Old AEDs Don't Fail Loudly. They Just Fail.
Batteries expire on a shelf life whether or not they're ever used, and pads dry out long before anyone notices. An AED that's silently out of date offers exactly the same protection as no AED at all — right up until the moment it's needed. This is the moment to check what's on your wall.
