The open mesh structure allows wound fluid and compatible gels to pass through into a suitable secondary dressing while maintaining a stable, protective contact layer over the wound bed. Medical-grade silicone adheres softly to dry surrounding skin while minimising adherence to the moist wound surface, reducing discomfort when the secondary dressing is changed and protecting newly formed tissue.

The translucent material allows visual monitoring of the underlying skin and wound without removing the contact layer. Flexible construction conforms easily to body contours, making it suitable for the trunk, limbs, and other curved or mobile sites. Breathable properties support a moist wound environment while allowing excess moisture to evaporate, and the smooth silicone surface provides a barrier to external contaminants.
